About Southdown Ceramics
Southdown Ceramics is a ceramic tiling business in Polegate, working in the Eastbourne area for domestic and commercial customers. Lee Richards set it up in 2001 after training with a specialist tiling firm working on houses, commercial buildings and swimming pools in East Sussex. A major proportion of its work is for private clients in their own homes, and most of it comes from recommendation.
The business covers all aspects of tiling, from ceramic wall and floor tiles to natural stones such as Chinese slate, polished and tumbled marble, and granite. Its work has ranged from 2ft by 2ft slate as a design piece on a lounge wall to glass mosaics in swimming pools, Jacuzzis and showers. Commercial projects include the showroom floor at the Eastbourne Vauxhall Centre and the steam room at Bannatynes Fitness Club in Eastbourne.
The business is the tiling company that major kitchen and bathroom companies in Eastbourne use on a sub contract basis. It joined the Trading Standards Buy with Confidence scheme in June 2005.
