About Avantgarde Tiling Ltd
Avantgarde Tiling Ltd is a tiling contractor with an office in Basildon, Essex, whose projects are largely in London. It was founded in 2005 by Silviu Damian and Barbara Zanasi, who met while working on the McLaren Technology Centre project in Woking, and the business marked 20 years in 2025.
Its work covers tiling and natural stone, terrazzo, polished concrete and marble, mainly in commercial buildings. Projects named on its website include the Natural History Museum Urban Nature Project, BBC Television Centre, Pan Pacific Hotel, 80 Fenchurch and McLaren Production Centre. Over the years it has built a long-term partnership with a fit-out contractor, and its first major contract was the tiling of 21 flats in Hampstead.
Services include supply and fit, technical consulting, material selection, cost planning and estimating, design support, and 3D modelling and visualisation. The business describes using Building Information Modelling, photogrammetry, LiDAR scanning and virtual reality in its design process. It also offers maintenance services for surfaces, and its team is described as multidisciplinary.
