What moves the price
- Flatness. A floor or wall not flat enough for large tiles needs levelling or lining first, priced on top.
- Two people. Tiles above about 60 cm are usually handled by two, and slabs need lifting kit.
- Back-buttering and clips. Full adhesive cover on floor and tile, and a levelling clip system, take time and materials.
- Waste. A wrong cut on a large tile wastes more tile; allow extra.
- Day rate. Checkatrade's large format guide averages £250 a day; its general tiling guide gives £200 to £350.
